Burglars steal $60Ok of saffron in London spice heist

These thieves have been simply mad about saffron.
An natural heist has precipitated a ruckus in London as burglars walked off with $60,000 of saffron this week.
London police have launched CCTV footage of two burglars breaking right into a warehouse in Ilford, sneaking away with 22 kilos of saffron – a spice, they are saying is “worth more than its weight in gold.”
The spice is so costly “due in part to its labor-intensive harvesting method. It is used in a number of cuisines, including in Spanish, Moroccan and Persian dishes,” police advised CNBC.
“This is someone’s livelihood and this theft will, of course, impact their business,” investigating officer Det. Sgt. Laura Mills advised CNBC. “The victims are angry and upset that someone has done this to them. It’s important that those who are responsible are caught and the spice is returned to its rightful owners.”
