JetBlue to keep on blocking middle chair tickets during October since COVID-19 Hazards The airline declared its commitment to obstructing middle chairs through at Oct. 15 to maintain social distancing in the struggle against coronavirus. NEW YORK – JetBlue revealed its devotion to social distancing on its own flights by obstructing purchasing middle chairs through at least Oct. 15. The airline said it will continue to obstruct centre seats in rows in which parties aren’t traveling together. The statement came as part of an upgrade to the airline’s Security from the Planet program, which is targeted at helping ensure the protection all of its staff and passengers.“Our Safety from the Ground Up program continues to be a thoughtful and always evolving set of layered protection measures that demonstrates our commitment to keeping our crew members and customers safe while providing them with peace of mind in the air and on the ground,” stated Joanna Geraghty, president and COO of JetBlue, in a news release. “We continue to hear from our customers that added space onboard and travel flexibility are incredibly important to them during this time and we want them to know we are listening because we are all in this together,” that she added.As a part of this “more space, fewer touchpoints” focus region of the airline’s safety program, JetBlue’s seat distancing policy makes sure that clients aren’t directly seated near a party they don’t know. On its smaller aircraft, JetBlue is obstructing aisle chairs. The airline was the first to require clients to wear decorative coverings in the airport and during their whole flight period. Beginning Aug. 10, the airline said it will prohibit the use of face masks with ports or exhalation valves, per recommendations by the Centers for Disease Control along with Prevention (CDC) and JetBlue’s medical staff.JetBlue may also no longer allow clients to assert exemptions from wearing a decorative covering entirely.“Our terminals and airplanes are a shared space, and every customer must wear a proper face covering or will need to delay their travel on JetBlue until face coverings are not longer required,” said Geraghty. “Our policy is meant to offer the strongest level of protection for everyone given all that we currently know about how COVID-19 is transmitted.”Beyond needing face masks, the airline has made extra attempts to help ensure pupil safety.
