A wild fistfight broke out between passengers on an American Airlines flight, apparently over a reclined seat that got stuck.
The video of the incident which has gone viral, shows two men trading blows at each other almost immediately after the flight from New Orleans touched down in Austin, Texas, as other passengers and crew tried desperately to stop the brawl.
The footage shows one man wagging his finger in the face of another passenger before he punches the man as another person stood between them.
Two men then proceed to pummel the apparent instigator,
as they fall on top of another row of seats while others scream for them to end the brawl, the clip shows.
Urgent calls to “clear the aisle!” and “return to your seats immediately!” can be heard echoing throughout the cabin, as one passenger adamantly repeats “stop, it’s not worth it!”
According to witnesses, the plane was returning to Austin from New Orleans when the two men started verbally assaulting each other over a seat that was stuck in the reclined position, CBS News reported.
“When the plane finally landed in Austin and the seatbelt sign was turned off, both men jumped up and physically started fighting each other,” one passenger told CBS News.
The shocking incident led to the police being called onto the plane to escort the individuals off the aircraft. Both were detained, but it’s unclear if either were arrested.
American Airlines released a statement confirming that law enforcement had been requested “due to an altercation between passengers.”
Two men were removed from the airplane and detained by Austin Police after the flight arrived around 4.30 pm local at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport.
