American Express Stock – This Amex Business Card Could Earn up to 400,000 Credit Card Points by July
That’s $4,000 worth of Membership Rewards points.
Whether you’re a freelancer, a small business owner, or doing some big spending on a corporate account, this popular business credit card just got a lot more valuable.
American Express recently announced a new set of temporary bonus categories on its Business Platinum Card® that can boost rewards earnings for folks staying home. Although it’s primarily a travel credit card, the Business Platinum Card® is offering up to 400,000 Membership Rewards points across five different bonus spending categories until June 30, 2021. It won’t be easy to earn that many, though, so you’ll want to start taking advantage of it now. Here’s how.
From now until June 30, 2021, holders of The Business Platinum Card® from American Express earn an elevated 5 points per $1 on spending in five bonus categories:
- Wireless
- Shipping
- Advertising
- Gas
- Office supplies
There’s an 80,000-point cap on each bonus category. If you max out the offer by earning 80,000 points in each of the five categories, you’ll end up with a total of 400,000 Membership Rewards points — worth $4,000 in travel spending.
Maxing out this offer will be difficult for most business owners. You’d have to spend $16,000 in every category before June 30, 2021. That comes out to spending $80,000 over the next five months on wireless services, shipping, advertising, gas, and office supplies. If you’re spending for a large corporate account, this might be doable. If you’re self-employed or running a small business, it likely won’t be.
That said, even if you only average $1,000 per month across all five categories, you’ll still earn 25,000 Membership Rewards points by the end of June. That’s worth $250 in travel spending.
You need to enroll in these Amex Offers to earn the additional points, so do that right away.
The Business Platinum Card® from American Express still earns 5 points per $1 on flights and prepaid hotels purchased through amextravel.com, so if you’re traveling, book through the Amex portal and pay with your credit card to earn more points. The card also earns 1.5 points per $1 on transactions of $5,000 or more, so it can be smart to put bigger purchases on your Business Platinum Card® too.
The list of lucrative American Express credit cards is long. If you’re looking to earn even faster, you could pair your Business Platinum Card® from American Express with another one of Amex’s Membership Rewards-earning cards — ideally one with different bonus categories that align with your spending.
For example, the American Express® Gold Card earns 4 points per $1 on dining (including takeout and delivery) and groceries. Juggling the two cards would help you earn bonus points on more of your spending, and the Gold Card also comes with some unique benefits like a $120 dining credit.
You might not be traveling as much as usual, but that doesn’t mean you can’t earn big on the spending you do. This new offer should help you up your rewards game in the meantime.
