Ireland is unlikely to pursue a “one-dose” strategy in the use of the Astrazeneca vaccine, The Times understands.
The National Immunisation Advisory Committee (Niac) met on Saturday to consider the advice from the European Medicines Agency (EMA) regarding the Astrazeneca vaccine.
The EMA formally approved the vaccine for use on Friday. The vaccine will be rolled out in Ireland early this month.
A source said: “They met on Saturday. They will meet again early this week and conclude their evidence. They will guide regarding dosage, and other items. They will also guide on information that will need to go to people who will receive the vaccine. That process is under way.”
