YMCA survey
The YMCA of Silicon Valley is looking for teenagers, parents and residents with special needs to give feedback on the nonprofit’s services in San Jose. YMCA leaders are planning to create new programs, particularly ones that address needs not currently being met in the community. Interested residents can email Trung.ho@ymcasv.org to see if they’re eligible to provide feedback and get up to two free months of YMCA membership.
City funding snapshot
A report recently released by the city of San Jose shows that during the COVID-19 pandemic, the city provided financial aid and rental assistance to 14,000 residents, while 4,100 previously unhoused residents received temporary housing through city programs and more than 100 nonprofits received personal protective equipment from the city.

Focus on transportation
For many residents, transportation issues are top-of-mind, and city officials are asking community members what they want the Department of Transportation to prioritize. Parks cleanup
On March 13, 9 a.m.-1 p.m., volunteers can join city officials at Alum Rock Trail to do some routine trail maintenance and restoration. WIL(LOW) GLEN>>The Willow Glen Business Association is holding a shredding event—where residents can bring sensitive documents to be professionally shredded for a fee—Saturday, March 27, 9 a.m.-noon. The fundraising event will take place in the parking lot of the Bank of America at 1245 Lincoln Ave.
ALMADEN VALLEY>>The District 10 Leadership Coalition, which hosts forums for residents to talk about neighborhood issues, is holding an online meeting March 13, 9-11 a.m., to discuss how to effect change in city government. To participate, register at https://tinyurl.com/D10LCMtg.
