LONDON, Aug 31 (Reuters) – All retailers in England will cost for single-use plastic service baggage from subsequent April with the price doubling to 10 pence ($0.13), the federal government mentioned on Monday because it stepped up efforts to cut back plastic waste.
Since October 2015, giant retailers in England have been legally required to impose a cost of 5p for plastic baggage, a measure which the federal government says has taken 15 billion baggage out of circulation.
In England the costs will now apply to all retailers, not simply these with greater than 250 workers members, and the cost can be elevated to 10p per bag.
“Ministers need to see bag utilization reduce considerably in small outlets as nicely, with clients incentivised to make use of long-life baggage constructed from extra sustainable and environmentally pleasant supplies,” mentioned an announcement from the Division for Atmosphere Meals and Rural Affairs.
