Boris Johnson – Former SNP MEP Christian Allard calls for indyref2 to take place in June
Writing in today’s National, Christian Allard says a referendum within the next five months would allow citizens born in other European countries a vote.
Over the weekend, the SNP unveiled their new “roadmap”, saying they would hold a vote even if Boris Johnson refuses to grant a Section 30 order.
Michael Russell, the Scottish Government’s Constitution Secretary told The National that the referendum should be held “after the pandemic, at a time to be decided by the democratically elected Scottish Parliament”.
He said the SNP believes that should be “in the early part of the new term”.

French-born Allard who has lived in the north-east of Scotland for the last 35 years – says the vote should be held before the deadline for the EU Settlement Scheme.
Though he admits he’d rather the UK Government “postpone the arbitrary deadline for us to apply to remain in our own homes”.
