Caterpillar – Bradley University announces new dean for two colleges
PEORIA (WEEK) – On Tuesday, Bradley University announced its results of a nationwide search for the next dean of both the Caterpillar College of Engineering and Technology as well as the Foster College of Business.
Dr. Molly Gribb has been appointed the new dean for Bradley University’s engineering and business colleges.
Bradley President Steve Standifird believes having only one dean oversee both colleges will be beneficial to the institution.
“These colleges are so tightly intertwined through our deep focus on convergence learning that this move allows us to drive home the concept of convergence even further… A single dean over both colleges will also help to break down the silos in these areas and benefit Bradley overall by taking two of our strong programs and creating a new synergy.”
Dr. Gribb, who earned her doctorate in civil engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, will become the first woman to oversee either college at Bradley University.
Before taking on this new role in the Heart of Illinois, Dr. Gribb served as Dean of the College of Engineering, Mathematics and Science at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville since July 2015.
In a press release, Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs Walter Zakahi commented on the new appointment.
“She has shown success in building new programs, securing grants and fundraising for program and infrastructure expansions, and building relationships with community and industry leaders… She is also a recognized researcher who has published more than 100 papers and abstracts and has mentored many faculty, staff, undergraduate, and graduate students during her academic career.”
Dr. Gribb will begin her tenure in January of 2022.
In the meantime, the Interim Dean of the Foster College of Business, Matt O’Brien, will continue to serve until early next year.
The current Dean of the Caterpillar College of Engineering, Lew Akers will retire by the end of May, at which point Julie Reyer will serve as the Interim Dean until Dr. Gibb’s arrival in January.
