Caterpillar – Tom Daley raves about M&S’s new Colin the Caterpillar Cake in a jar
Tom Daley is a big fan of M&S’s newest cakey treat: the Colin The Caterpillar “cake jar,” also known as “cake in a jar”.
Olympic diver Tom, who hails from Plymouth but now lives in London with his husband and young son, has confirmed he is an Official Taster for M&S Food – and taken to Instagram to share his thoughts on some of the supermarket’s latest releases.
In a two-minute clip posted on his Instagram page on Wednesday, Tom samples a mouth-watering crab linguine dish before trying a range of “cake jars”.
“I need to get better at the whole twist with the fork,” Tom joked while trying the crab linguine. “Flipping delicious.”
Next up on Tom’s review of the new treats at M&S is the M&S Raspberry ripple cake jar, which Tom says is “literally everything I’ve ever wanted,” while he finds the M&S Trillionaire cake jar so good “it should be illegal”.
But it’s the M&S Colin the Caterpillar Cake Jar which really steals the show.
“It’s like a saucier version of a Colin the Caterpillar cake, in a jar,” Tom says. “Like incredible.”
“Also, the amazing thing with these kinds of jars is that once you’ve used them you can wash them out and you can use them to propagate your plants!”
“So, after much deliberation, I’m going to have to say that My Marks Fave for April are these delicious cake jars,” he added.
Tom, who grew up in the city and went to Eggbuckland Community College and Plymouth College, trained at Central Park pool, now Plymouth Life Centre, as a teenager.
Fast-forward 13 years and the Plymouth diver is now a household name across the country and trains and competes all over the world.
He’s currently preparing for his fourth Olympic games – but says the event will be “bittersweet” as his young son and husband won’t be able to watch him compete.
“I’d love for my son to be able to watch me at the Olympics so it’s bittersweet because you never know if you’re going to get to do another Olympics,” he told men’s fashion magazine Man About Town during his cover-shoot.
In a snippet of his interview, shared on the magazine’s website, Tom said he was currently training for a ‘virtual diving competition’ next week ahead of the Olympics later this year.
“Training was good, thanks! I have a comp next week, a virtual one,” he told Man About Town. “There’s going to be guys from Canada, Germany and the UK competing against each other and a virtual judging panel with two judges in each location watching live then watching videos of the others.
“It will be live streamed within the diving community that’s competing so I think it’ll work out. It’ll be fun. It’ll just be nice to go out and compete to be honest.”
