Chevron – Chevron to Drill 38 More Wells in Rokan Block in Two Months
Two months before handing the Rokan Block over to PT Pertamina, PT Chevron Pacific Indonesia has already drilled 73 wells across the work area. The Deputy for Operations of the Upstream Oil and Gas Regulatory Special Task Force (SKK Migas), Julius Wiratno, revealed that the transition process of the oil and gas work area, located in Riau Province, from Chevron to PT Pertamina Hulu Rokan (PHR) had been as planned.
“One of the priorities is to complete the development drilling to ramp up the production level; 73 wells were operational and have already increased the output,” Julius explained on Monday (6/21). In addition, Chevron is trying to increase the number of rigs and long lead items they need for the drillings in an attempt to curb the oil production decline during the transition period.
Meanwhile, as the sub-subsidiary of Pertamina, PHR has been preparing everything and is ready to take over Rokan Block’s operation on August 9. “PHR has also completed many programs, such as increasing the number of rigs as well as offering employment,” Julius elaborated.
