The guy after died. The incident began Thursday night when officers observed that the guy waving a 32-inch sword while they were led into an unrelated call for support, Detroit Police Chief James Craig stated. The moment the officers got from the marked police car, the defendant ran in their leadership waving the sword, he said.Officers asked him a few times to drop the weapon, but he refused and continued to progress toward themCraig stated. At one stage, among those officers set up his Taser, however, it did not take effect because the defendant had protective covering on his chest — comparable to what baseball players wear, according to the police chief. At a specific stage, the defendant took an eight-inch dagger by the rear of his trousers and threw it at their direction of the officers, hitting one straight beneath the ideal eye. He also suffered a laceration and has been hauled to a nearby hospital, the police chief said. Officers asked the guy to drop his weapons and a single officer deployed one round from his weapon and struck the defendant, who continued to pursue the officers, police said. The suspect gained entry to the driver’s side of the police car and a guy who believed the defendant was hoping to find access to firearms trapped the defendant within the car with his own automobile.”It was a really risky situation. He even saw our officers were at risk. He wished to help,” Craig said of this man. It’s uncertain what happened then, Craig stated. The defendant succumbed to his injuries and the incident is under investigation.
