Local residents offer additional comments on retailers in Ocala
More residents have written in to share their opinions about what types of retailers they would like to see come to Ocala.
“I’ve written this plea many times! Build it and they will come! We need Costco the most in our area please! All of the other stores will follow” says Carole Stockman of Dunnellon.
“I second the thought of bringing a Target Supercenter on the SW side of Ocala, preferably near On Top of the World. I would like to see an international food market that sells food from all over the world. I would also like to see something like an outdoor or indoor go cart track for all ages. Something else rather than gas stations and more Publix locations. I don’t have any issues with Publix, in fact they are a great store to shop in. I feel there are too many in this location. There is literally 4 locations within a 5 mile radius of my house” says Jason Rowland of Ocala.
“It sure would be nice if some of the companies would be places on East State Road 40. We have nothing out here but fast food,” says east Ocala resident Ruth Rivera.
“We need a variety of stores in Ocala. Costco is a great option, Target, spanish restaurants,” says Ruth Hernandez of Ocala.
“First, I’d like to add Trader Joe’s to the list of additions to Ocala’s businesses. Ocala deserves to be recognized by the companies your article mentions. We are not a small, sleepy community. We are home to a number of nationally recognized businesses. Amazon, Fedex, Dollar General, and others have all seen fit to locate facilities here” says Charles Hess.
“Consider a more interesting design for shopping areas instead of more strip mall type areas. Bring a little class to Ocala. More opportunities for smaller, unique restaurants and stores,” says Ocala resident John Bourland.
“There’s no industrial professional business park here. There’s no entertainment for children, teenagers, people in their 30s, 40s, 50s. Enough with gas stations, tire shops, restaurants. Ocala needs more culture, big museums, a Zoo, an amusement park like six flags, roof top dining, a Costco,” says John Rivera of Ocala.
