Coronavirus Vaccine – Riverside County’s coronavirus vaccine doses trending upward – Press Enterprise
The number of COVID-19 vaccines given in Riverside County on Tuesday, June 8 — at nearly 10,000 doses — was the highest in five days, an indicator the county is stepping up its vaccination effort, officials reported Wednesday, June 9.
Riverside County administered 9,819 doses of the vaccines Tuesday, the highest daily number since June 4 and the second highest since May 28. Tuesday is the latest day for which vaccination statistics are available.
In addition, the total doses given in a week reached 55,301 Tuesday, the most since May 27, when the weekly dose count reached 57,345.
The percentage of people of all ages in the county who are fully vaccinated is 35.5%, and 43.3% have had at least one dose. In Los Angeles County, the figures are 45.1% and 54.5%, respectively. Orange County is at 47% and 55.8%.
Riverside County reported 50 new cases of the coronavirus and no new deaths Wednesday.

Confirmed cases: 301,178 total, up 50 from Tuesday, averaging 47 reported per day in the past week
Deaths: 4,617 total, down one from Tuesday, averaging one reported per day in the past week
Hospital survey: 34 confirmed and 21 suspected patients hospitalized Tuesday, including five confirmed and four suspected patients in the ICU, with 21 of 21 facilities reporting. The number of confirmed patients is unchanged from a week earlier.
Tests: 3,172,788 total, up 6,284 from Tuesday, averaging 5,593 reported per day in the past week
Recovered cases: 295,769 total, up 94 from Tuesday, averaging 67 per day in the past week
Vaccinations: Riverside County residents have received 1,892,198 doses, with 190,781 people partially vaccinated and another 876,905 fully vaccinated, as of Tuesday. The number of residents who have received at least one dose is up 22,946 in the past week.
Reopening plan tier: Orange (moderate risk level; some indoor business operations are open with modifications) based on these metrics as of Tuesday:
- New cases per day per 100,000 residents: 1.6
- Case rate adjusted for testing volume: 1.6
- Test positivity rate: 1.2% (1.3% in socioeconomically disadvantaged neighborhoods)
- What’s next: The state plans to end the colored tier system and lift capacity and distancing restrictions for most businesses and activities on June 15.
