Disney Stock – Piedmont High School Brings Some Disney Magic To Local Students
The last year has brought the hammer down on all of us. So, when Piedmont High School students had a chance to bring some joy to the youngest kids in the district, they answered the bell.
“It’s been a really depressing year for everyone. It brings a lot of joy to people,” said Piedmont High School senior Jacob Cope.
“It’s been a hard year, so we were hoping that this would create a great ending for them, and judging by the smiles I think they’re satisfied,” said Piedmont High School leadership teacher Alissa Antwine.
It’s part of the Piedmont School District’s annual DUCK Week, which stands for Doing Unselfish Charities for Kids.
This year’s theme is Disney. Seventy-two students from leadership classes at Piedmont High travelled to five schools, coming out in full force, making for an incredible start to the kids’ days.
“There’s something magical that happens when we get our littlest kids together with our oldest kids. It’s just wonderful to see, so we’re out here trying to build these relationships among fellow students,” said Antwine.
In addition to spreading some Disney magic to these schools, the main purpose of DUCK Week is to raise money for people in the community battling illnesses.
Normally DUCK Week is in March, but it was delayed two months in order to have in-person events like.
DUCK Week 2021 will benefit four community members.
“DUCK Week I feel is the heart and soul of Piedmont. We love getting together and rallying around a family or multiple families,” said senior Madison Antwine.
A reminder that a little magic, can go a long way.
“It’s so great to see smiles and hugs,” said Alissa. “The Disney magic couldn’t be more perfect, this theme, for this year, because we have definitely created that here today with these kids.”
