China Revises 2019 GDP Growth Down to 6.0%
BEIJING–China’s statistics bureau on Wednesday revised down economic growth for 2019, potentially providing a lower base for this year’s growth rate.
The National Bureau of Statistics revised China’s growth in 2019 gross domestic product to 6.0%, compared with the 6.1% pace in its preliminary reading.
The revision came after authorities provided a final calculation of the economic data, which sometimes results in changes to growth rates.
China is set to release its annual GDP figure on Jan. 18 and is expected to be the only major economy in the world to post growth in 2020. In the first three quarters, the Chinese economy grew 0.7% from a year earlier.
