Facebook – Clear Creek Amana board member resigns after controversial Facebook post
TIFFIN, Iowa (KWWL) – A Clear Creek Amana school board member resigned Thursday, after the district became aware of a controversial Facebook post.
Superintendent Tim Kuehl did not name the school board member in an email sent to district families, but board member Kathy Swenka is no longer listed on the district’s website under the school board tab.
Thursday morning, a Facebook account with Swenka’s name commented on a Fox News post about Phillip Adams, the former NFL player who was named as a suspect in Wednesday’s shooting in South Carolina.
Referring to Adams, the account said, “Oh no, he’s not white, what do we do now?????”
KWWL is waiting to hear back from CCA administrators to confirm Swenka is the board member who resigned.
The district is in the midst of a campaign to make the district more equitable to students of all colors, after families and staff members accused the district of ignoring multiple reports of racist behavior last summer.
