The Vacaville High Class of 2021 Parents Facebook page, at www.facebook.com/groups/282089476224609, has more information on that project and others.
Folks in the latter group decided to step up and find a fun way to motivate graduating seniors of all Vacaville high schools, as the pandemic has caused them to lose their final year of high school and all the milestones that come with it.
“It’s just an uplifting and really cool thing,” advised Summyr Fien, a project organizer.
The project is a nationwide undertaking, apparently, and a very successful one.
It works like this:
Join the project page, at https://www.facebook.com/groups/145062130787424.
Post a photo of your senior, along with a blurb about them, their likes and, perhaps, dislikes.
When someone “adopts” them, they agree to give a gift or gifts, at their discretion, and make arrangements with the senior’s parent via direct message for delivery. Whether secrecy is maintained is up to the giver.
“Adopted” grads will be noted, as will “available” grads. A person can adopt more than one student, organizers said.
Financial donations are also appreciated and can be made to the Vacaville High School Parent Teacher Club, 100 West Monte Vista Ave., Vacaville, Attention: Adopt-a-Grad. Donations are tax deductible and receipts are available upon request.
