Facebook – Mum sparks hilarious debate on Facebook over bizarre butter technique
A woman has sparked a debate about the “correct” way to get margarine out of a tub – only to be told her own method is “weird”.
Jules Ross shared a photo of how she doesn’t scrape along the top, but instead likes to dig down from one side to the other.
Taking to UK Facebook group Family Lockdown Tips & Ideas, she wrote: “My husband thinks I’m weird, does anyone else scrape their butter from the tub this way?
“I’ve always done it.”
Her marg-scraping method clearly divided social media users, with some saying it gave them “anxiety”.

One person who was shocked at her revelation, said: “Totally bonkers.”
Another said: “This makes me anxious.”
But others said they too did something similar with their butter and had no idea it was unusual.
“I do this! Didn’t know it was seen as ‘not normal’,” one commented.
Others argued it made more sense to scrape butter this way as it wasn’t as untidy and kept things orderly.
“Yes! I do this! I hate a messy tub,” one person wrote.
“It’s efficient, why wouldn’t you do it like that?” another wrote in agreement.
Fortunately this woman’s butter scraping method has proved less controversial than a Facebook post last year that extolled the benefits of eating toast only when it had gone cold.
A picture of two slices of white bread, lathered in Vegemite and butter, was posted to the popular Facebook group Budget Friendly Meals Australia.

The Perth mum behind the post asked the group’s 90,000 members their opinion on the best way to eat the condiments on toast.
She started the post by calling it a “useless debate”, before asking: “Who likes to put butter on their toast when it’s still hot, or like me, prefers my toast to go cold and then put the butter on?”
The post attracted thousands of comments from people itching to share their verdict.
A lot of people were shocked by the woman’s “cold” approach, insisting the bread must be warm before applying the butter so that it melts.
“This should be illegal,” one person said about applying butter to cold toast.
“This photo is just messed up. Has to be hot toast with butter and Vegemite,” another added.
“Oh good god what kind of heathen waits for it to go cold?” joked a third person.
“Hot otherwise I’ll pop it back in the toaster for a bit to warm up again,” a fourth person said.
