FuelCell – DOE publicizes $33m to advance hydrogen and gas cell applied sciences
The US Division of Vitality (DOE) has introduced $33m in funding to help progressive hydrogen and gas cell R&D, infrastructure provide chain growth and validation, and price evaluation actions.
Introduced yesterday (10th December) the funding alternative builds upon current efforts funded by DOE’s Hydrogen and Gasoline Cell Applied sciences workplace to scale back value, enhance efficiency and strengthen the home provide chain for hydrogen and gas cell applied sciences and purposes.
Actions from the funding alternative will help the Workplace of Vitality Effectivity and Renewable Vitality’s (EERE’s) [email protected] imaginative and prescient. Actions which shall be in focuses because of the funding alternative are:
- Gasoline cells for heavy-duty vans in coordination with the M2FCT consortium
- Hydrogen manufacturing by way of high-temperature (high-T) water splitting (electrolysis) in coordination with the H2NEW consortium, in addition to organic processes that use waste
- Home manufacturing of high-T electrolysers and associated elements.
Different subjects embody infrastructure R&D to validate hydrogen refuelling models, and to develop provide chain elements to allow excessive throughput fuelling for hydrogen stations that serve heavy-duty purposes.
