Norway-based hydrogen fuel cells company TECO 2030 is undergoing type approval for its fuel cell module and modular container unit
The FCM 400 fuel cell module and FCC 1600 fuel cell container are both undergoing development and type approval in accordance with maritime rules and regulations, a statement from the company said.
“The FCM 400 fuel cell module is TECO 2030’s building block for marine applications. The zero-emission fuel cell has 400 kW net power output which is twice the capacity compared to other fuel cell providers,” the company said.

TECO 2030 said that designs took into account feedback from customers and collaborators within shipping. The containers, they said, fit any vessel applications and the fuel cell is scalable to any MW size needed.
“TECO 2030 expects the products to be the most utilized fuel cell solutions within the maritime and offshore industry,” said TECO 2030 CEO Tore Enger.
The company has also released an emissions reducing ship funnel and a ballast water treatment system. An order for the ballast water treatment system of Nkr1M (US$110,000) enabled development of the fuel cell project, according to the company.
