Cyberpunk 2077 – Cyberpunk 2077 sold 13.7 million copies in 2020, only about 30,000 copies refunded
In an earnings call, CD Projekt today revealed the amount of copies its latest RPG, Cyberpunk 2077, sold in 2020 as well as some other interesting numbers surrounding the troubled title.
According to company estimates based on distributor information, through the end of 2020, Cyberpunk 2077 had sold over 13.7 million copies across all platforms. The bulk of it had come from digital purchases, which accounted for 73% of sales.
The platform sales split was revealed to be 56% on PC/Stadia, 28% on PlayStation 4, and 17% on Xbox One. The massive project’s budget had been PLN 1.2 billion ($316 million).
Following the launch woes of Cyberpunk 2077, CD Projekt offered customers their money back through its “Help Me Refund” program. Per the company, only around 30,000 copies were refunded in the end, with the entire refund scheme costing it PLN 8.46 million ($2.23 million).
CD Projekt RED is currently following its new Cyberpunk 2077 roadmap, both providing support and adding new content to the game throughout 2021. So far, two major bug fixing updates have landed alongside several other hotfixes, though the game is still missing from the PlayStation Store following its delisting last year. The studio is also working on next-gen versions of Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher 3.
