I have a legitimate question for the People of Montgomery and Aurora, IL.
Are you tired yet?
Are you tired of being told you are not good enough by your employers?
by the mortgage companies,
by banks
by hospitals?
Are you tired of the city allowing the companies to steal money from you with lax guidelines?
Are you tired of not getting paid enough to support your families?
Are you tired of landlord being able to charge high prices for rental properties and getting away with not doing proper repairs? and evicting people during a global pandemic?
How would you like to get a chance to change all that?
If every single person who lived in the area was willing to sign a contract agreeing to live by new laws passed for the city itself.
Where Marijuana sales are used to pay off mortgages for every single property in the city limits and all empty/abandoned/foreclosed houses is purchased by the city and fixed up and given to a homeless person or family to live in., where vacant lots are used to build small homes for homeless, veterans and low income families. Where rent and utilities is covered by the cities taxes of MJ sales.
Employers pay Health care costs with business taxes, and healthcare is free for everyone in the city. no doctors charge for services, no one pays for medications out of pocket. its covered by the city you live in.
All schools are paid for by the casino profits and lottery sales,
Most importantly a blanket limit on how much can be charged for a rental property, or a house in the city. No one can be turned away from renting a property as long as they agree to the City Contract and abide by the legal rules of the contract.
Every single person over the age of 16 signs an agreement. a contract that agrees to all the laws, and regulations of the city. And is offered jobs with apprenticeships in whatever industry their interest are in. People under the age of 16 will be given a monthly stipend to cover educational and food expenses, clothing etc.
The local trade unions and colleges start opening up the apprentice programs to anyone willing to learn the program and the businesses in the city that work in the trades hire these apprentices and help them gain their degrees while working in the industry. Practical on the job training. simple concept really.
Construction trades use their skills and their suddenly expanding crews to fix up homes in their neighborhoods. all supplies are covered by the city with grants. They hire people in the communities like Habitat for Humanity and go out into the community fixing up houses in neighborhoods with the tradesmen, and help their neighbors. build community gardens and community centers for free art/music/literature/language classes. and set up free educational opportunities with the businesses in the the community.
Local small businesses teach people in the community the skills they need, and if there is something missing in the community, that would benefit everyone in the community, the people with the knowledge and skills to bring that to the community is invited in.
With social media the way it is, why cant we use PATCH to bring the community together and make it so everyone in the community gets a voice, and a vote on how the city is run.
Every single employer, in the city agrees to pay every employee a minimum wage of $25/dollars an hour for every position.. including waitress and fast food. all the low wage jobs that are essential.. every position, gets the starting wage of $25/hr. and the City contracts as a Union have strict laws on how much employees can work, what employers can and can not do and that HR must abide by the city contract over internal company rules. any company found to not be paying their employees according to the contracts would face hefty fines.
Would you sign on?
Better education, better job pay, better housing, better opportunities?
Here is a even bigger idea for the community to think about.
What if the city stopped working for the few and started working for all of us equally. Would we have to rely on charities to feed our families, would we have to work 2 or more jobs to support ourselves?
Are you tired of being voiceless?
What will it take for you to step up and say NO MORE?
We need to change How the world works, and we need to do it locally, we need to do it nationally and world wide. and we need change how we do things, and we need to start now. We ALL need to work together or it will be the end of us all. We all must remember we are the same species. HUMAN BEING and we are all the same.. Flawed. Doesnt matter what color we are, what god we pray to, where we come from, we are the same. Human.
See a need, fill a need and build a better community with acts of kindness and generosity.
