President Donald Trump “actually cannot be trusted” with receiving the intelligence briefings, in response to Home Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff on Sunday.
“There is no circumstance during which this president ought to get one other intelligence briefing, not now, not sooner or later,” Schiff, who led the Home Democrats’ first impeachment hearings in late 2019, advised CBS’s “Face the Nation” on Sunday. “I do not assume he may be trusted with it now, and sooner or later, he actually cannot be trusted.
“We have seen this president politicize intelligence, and that is one other threat to the nation,” Schiff added.
Previous presidents are sometimes given intel breifings as a courtesy.
CBS host Margaret Brennan didn’t press Schiff on whether or not Rep. Eric Swalwell, D-Calif., ought to obtain categorised intelligence or be stripped of his safety clearance.
Swalwell, a Schiff first impeachment assistant, was a goal for a Chinese language espionage effort by recognized spy Christine Fang, often known as Fang Fang.
