To be able to travel, Dumler spent $200 on a COVID test from a clinic that guaranteed results within 24 hours, though she was still waiting to hear back after the 24-hour mark on Tuesday –– within two hours of her flight’s departure.
“What I’m hoping is that those of us who will have left before (the potential new rules) will be allowed a pass. I mean, we’re getting a test going there, I’m getting a test coming back, the quarantine measures are already in place,” she said. “I don’t understand why on earth they would want to essentially financially punish us for essential travel.”
Veena, who preferred her last name not be used, was travelling to Minnesota with her daughter on Tuesday to visit a sick relative as well. She said tighter restrictions would make sense for people who were travelling for a vacation, but not for those who have valid reasons to leave the country.
