Super Cars – Spoiler alert! Maserati MC20 Aria by 7 Designs
Think the Maserati MC20 needs more aggression? Think the svelte Italian supercar looks a little light in its loafers? Well, we certainly didn’t when we drove a prototype in our March 2021 issue.
In fact, we thought it was “a radical yet reasonable driving machine that excels where it matters”, referring to the all-new twin-turbo V6 engine producing 463 kW/730 N.m and delivering a 0-100 km/h sprint time of 2,9 seconds before topping out at 325 km/h, not to mention its light and agile handling.

Nevertheless, with a car like the Frank Stephenson-designed MC12 in its back catalogue, some may argue the MC20 is a little too soft, too safe, too neat and tidy. Well, now an American company out of New York called 7 Designs has zhooshed things up with some fresh body kits rendered in photoshop.
The company talks of an extensive carbon fibre overhaul which takes the form of a tasteful spoiler, splitter and side-skirt package. The hood scoop puts us in mind of the McLaren F1 GTR, which is no bad thing.

The kits form part of the Aria project, and 25 will be put up for sale when the production vehicle does finally go on sale. If you’re in the market for one these Italian supercars locally, which we expect it to cost around the R5,5-million mark, and you can register your interest at the design firm’s website.
