According to Ben Decker, the General Manager of Xbox Gaming Services, there’s a brand-new Xbox Studios IP coming our way that’ll supposedly “blow our minds.” Generally speaking, we always take such statements with a fair bit of reserve, but given Microsoft’s recent track record, we’re inclined to really believe this one.
This Redmond-based tech giant has really gone above and beyond lately in an attempt to make their consoles the most interesting and alluring options out there and, in all fairness, they’ve done an incredible job thus far. Xbox Live Gold is no longer required for free-to-play titles, EA Play has also been integrated into Xbox Game Pass, and they’ve even shipped an incredible feature called Xbox FPS Boost that “magically” doubles (or even triples, in some instances) the frame rate of select last-gen titles.
So we know for a fact that they’re looking to get one up on both Sony and Nintendo and if they keep making such incredible announcements, it’ll be mighty hard not to splurge for an Xbox Series S/X come holiday season (if not sooner).
Microsoft’s impressive array of first-party developers (that’s getting larger and larger by the minute) and existing intellectual properties are as vast as they are beloved across the globe. Still, creating exciting new stories and characters will be vital in Microsoft’s battle against Sony who also happen to be working on a slew of first-party titles of their own.
With 23 studios under their banner, it’s pretty much nigh impossible to predict what exactly this unannounced Xbox IP really is, but with E3 2021 right around the corner, there’s a very good chance we’ll find out sooner rather than later! In any case, it’s hard not to be hyped for what’s to come given Microsoft’s renewed focus and the amount of attention (and resources) they’ve been investing into Xbox as a whole.
