NBA 2K22 is just a few short days away from launch, and that means it’s time to get ready to hit “download” on this year’s game.
We’ve got details on the file size you can expect, how to pre-load on PS4, PS5, and Xbox if you already placed a pre order, and what time those options should be available for NBA 2K22.
NBA 2K22 Download & File Size
Our initial indicators of file size for NBA 2K22 came via PlayStation Game Size.
The account had consistently reported correct download and file size info for some time, and also shared these details for NBA 2K22.
However, it looks like that may have been an early version popping up on the store or in the source where PlayStation Game Size pulls their data, as we now know it’s even larger.
According to a screenshot from the r/NBA2K subreddit, the PS5 version is a massive 108.897 GB.
However, things are even larger on Xbox Series X|S, where we’ve been able to begin the download and it clocks in at 115.56 GB.
On top of that, the Xbox One version is a full 84.39 GB, so we’re expecting a similar but potentially a bit smaller size on PS4.
None of these totals include a potential Day One Patch, which could easily drop several more gigabytes into the title at launch.
How to pre-load NBA 2K22 on PS4, PS5, and Xbox
If you’ve already got your pre order in for any edition of NBA 2K22, then you’ll want to take advantage of pre-load if you hope to play the moment the title becomes available.
According to the tweet that was sent out by PlayStation Game Size, pre-load is expected to become available for PS4 and PS5 on Wednesday, September 8, 2021.
We’re not sure exactly what time you’ll be able to get that download going, but check often to make sure you can get the download rolling as soon as possible.
As for Xbox, the good news is that you are already able to pre-load now, even if you haven’t placed your pre order!
If you’re worried it’ll take some time to download, hop onto the Xbox app via your mobile device.
Make sure you’ve set things up on your console to allow downloads to be initiated by the app, and you can search for the game within the app, select it, and tap “Download to Console.”
You will still need to own the game in order to launch it, and you can pre order here if you still need to get that done!
