Scott Morrison – PM boasts Australia’s ‘sovereign capability’ to produce coronavirus vaccines
Prime Minister Scott Morrison has boasted Australia’s “sovereign capability” to produce coronavirus vaccines, something which countries around the world are “envious” of.
Mr Morrison in January confirmed the federal government had “paid a premium” for the convenience of domestic production, but said it was the right decision for Australia.
“Delivery of the vaccines is critical over the course of this year,” Mr Morrison said.
“The delivery of safe, accessible, effective vaccines, TGA approved by the finest regulatory agency for vaccines anywhere in the world.”
He praised the health minister and the Department of Health secretary’s “great work” in securing 140 million vaccine doses.
“To be able to produce those vaccines here, [is a] sovereign capability that so many countries around the world are envious of.”
