Chinese vaccines have been successful in trial production and tests in phases, and Myanmar Ambassador negotiated with China National Pharmaceutical Group Co., Ltd (Sinopharm) and Sinovac Botech (Hong Kong) Limited.
They tried to send the vaccines to Myanmar in August, said the embassy.
Myanmar Ambassador had 31 meetings with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, Sinopharm, Sinovac and other vaccine research institutions and concerned persons, until December 30. As a result of the talks held on December 29 and 30, an agreement was reached between the two sides and vaccines are expected to arrive in Myanmar in early 2021, while other necessary discussions are being continued.
Currently, Myanmar has 13 vaccine options but it is considering manufacturing some vaccines domestically in cooperation with India’s pharmaceutical companies.
Meanwhile, Myanmar is in talks to purchase a COVID-19 vaccine from Serum Institute of India and a Myanmar representative team is discussing the matter in India. – Translated
