CS:GO Captain Picks
Just a heads up for everyone playing in tomorrow’s slate, apEX has officially decided to take a leave from Counter-strike, leaving Vitality without an IGL. With Nivera being thrust into the lineup for all maps instead of just Inferno, Dust2 and Nuke. Ultimately, I think this ends up negatively impacting ZywOo’s performance. Nivera will likely take away from some of his production, and the lack of a strong IGL presence may impact how he plays. Despite all of this, I’m still willing to take a chance on the world’s No. 1 player. His has unrivaled upside, which is probably why he’s priced as the most expensive player on the slate. If you’re looking for a captain for cash games, ZywOo is your guy.
If you’re playing tournaments, I think it’s fairly easy to get off ZywOo given the circumstances. Device at $900 cheaper and lower projected ownership is definitely a strong pivot. Device may not have the same upside as ZywOo, but he is arguably the most consistent player to ever touch the game. Astralis are also larger favorites against Mousesports, possibly making device the safer play if Vitality can’t closeout OG. If it’s difficult to choose which star player you want at your captain spot, you can easily fit both players in your lineup considering the soft DraftKings pricing.
If you don’t roster either Device or ZywOo at the captain spot, syrsoN is also a great alternative. BIG come in at slight favorites against Heroic, but I actually think BIG have a much better chance to win than the odds say. SyrsoN had a breakout year last year, winning a few titles and claiming the number ten spot on HLTV’s Top 20 Player Rankings. In the past three months he has averaged 0.75 kills per round, which is right around other stars like ropz and device. I expect syrsoN to be one of the highest scorers on the slate, and given his price he should be very easy to fit in your lineups.
Additional Captain Options
Broky is less likely to outscore any of the players listed above, but he is still the top option for FaZe, and playing him can save a lot of salary. Team Liquid have been swept twice in a row by FaZe, but the odds show that FaZe are only slight favorites. In the case of a Liquid win, or just a close game, EliGE is most probable to be Liquid’s highest scorer.
CS:GO DFS Value Picks
Following his departure from Team Liquid just two months ago, Twistzz seems to have been revitalized with FaZe. After posting a measly 0.64 kills per round with Liquid, he has astonishingly increased his kills per round to 0.77. We’re working with a small sample size, but if what we’ve seen so far stays consistent, Twistzz will be one of the best values on the slate with his price.
Nivera & Misutaaa ($6,000)
DraftKings seemingly didn’t know apEX is taking a leave from Vitality and decided to leave Nivera at just $6,000. Nivera is used to only playing a few maps each series (Dust2, Inferno, and Nuke), but with apEX’s departure it allows him to play all maps. We’ve seen how good Nivera has been as Vitality’s sixth man and he now has the opportunity to play all three maps in a series. ApEX leaving also allows misutaaa to see full playing time, and again, his price doesn’t really reflect this. Both of these players are amazingly strong values at their price, but I would give the edge to Nivera if you only want to play one.
I’ve already mentioned how I like BIG to win over Heroic, making Xantares another prime value for the slate. He’s only priced at $7,400 and has recently been one of BIG’s best players. Anytime you can get a player that has a favorable matchup, posts an 1.12 rating and delivers 0.72 kills per round at under $8,000 you should take advantage of it.
Additional Value Options
Although I don’t like Heroic to win this matchup, I think Stavn at $7,000 is a steal. Similarly with Valde, I don’t particularly like the matchup against Vitality, even though they definitely have the chance to win. At $6,400 you can grab a player that usually performs well. The two lowest priced players on DraftKings can also provide you with additional value. Aleksib and Karrigan are both capable fraggers, but given how soft pricing is I don’t think you need to pay all the way down for them.
