J.J. Spaun, Jordan Spieth tied for first after one round at AT&T Byron Nelson
The first round of the AT&T Byron Nelson was a birdie and eagle-fest, with many of the golfers making mincemeat of TPC Craig Ranch. Spaun ($6,600; 64.5 DKFP) and Spieth ($10,700; 67 DKFP) both shot nine-under 63s to co-lead after the opening round. Spaun birdied holes birdied two, five, six, nine, 11, 12, 14, 17 and 18. Spieth birdied holes one, three, five, six, nine, 12 and 13, and he eagled 18. In the $750K Flop Shot, Spaun is rostered in 0.5% of lineups while Spieth is at 19.3%. Scottie Scheffler within shouting distance at AT&T Byron Nelson
Scheffler ($9,400; 36.5 DKFP), who was the most popular player in the $750K Flop Shot at 29.7% ownership, is off to a decent start at the AT&T Byron Nelson. The American shot a five-under 67 to open up his week on Thursday, sitting five shots back in a tie for 34th. Scheffler picked up an eagle and eight birdies on the day, but he scattered five bogeys throughout his round. Two other popular options, Will Zalatoris ($9,700; 21 DKFP), who was 23.9% owned, and Bryson DeChambeau ($11,200; 20 DKFP), who checked in at 23.5%, are both in danger of missing the cut. It would be the second straight for Zalatoris, who’s tied for 96th at -2. DeChambeau is tied for 77th at -3. — Kenny Ducey
