Justin Rose gets hot, builds four-shot lead after one round at The Masters
On a day that started in the worst way imaginable, little went wrong for Rose ($7,200; 65 DKFP) in Thursday’s opening round of The Masters. The 40-year-old bogeyed the first hole he played at Augusta National and moved to +2 after a bogey on the seventh before he absolutely caught fire. Rose would birdie seven of the next 10 holes, eagling the eighth, to go on one of the best stretches ever seen at this tournament. When it was all said and done, Rose was into the clubhouse with a four-shot lead at -7 after carding a 65. Brian Harman ($6,800; 38 DKFP) and Hideki Matsuyama ($8,300; 40.5 DKFP) are currently sitting in a tie for second at -3. Rose has never won this event, but is a two-time runner up. Perhaps this is finally his year. — Kenny Ducey
Bryson DeChambeau, Rory McIlroy struggle in opening round of The Masters
Entering this year’s Masters, DeChambeau ($10,800) was one of the favorites at 10 to 1 to win it all. As a result, he was rostered in 23.1% of $4M Millionaire tournament lineups. He has his work cut out for him, though, because he was +4 in the opening round. He bogeyed the third hole but got it back three holes later, then it all fell apart on the back nine. DeChambeau he double-bogeyed hole 4 then bogeyed holes 5 and 8. McIlroy ($10,200) was also one of the favorites entering The Masters with odds of 16 to 1. He was rostered in 10.6% of lineups in the Millionaire tournament. He only posted two birdies to six bogeys, finishing +4 on the day, like DeChambeau. — Stan Son
