Yesterday’s slate had several upsets including the Elise Mertens upset along with several others which is to be expected with a lot of players yet to play on this surface this year.We are now down to a smaller 11 match slate with a lot of ways to still get different. Tennis DFS Pick: Daniela Seguel ($6,800) 

Opponent: Harmony Tan

Opened at +156

Harmony Tan has started the year off hot compared to previous years on the clay playing surface but a closer look at her opponents downplays that hot start with a combined record of 3-7 since 2020. Daniela Seguel leads the head to head 2-1 with one of those wins taking place on clay and also has the better quality competition this year. Seguel also has leads in second-serve-won percentage as well as return-points-won percentage. I expect Seguel to win in straight sets.

Tennis DFS Pick: Ons Jabeur ($8,700) 

Opponent: Alize Cornet 

Odds to win: -230

Alize Cornet is fresh off of a big upset win over Elise Mertens who blew a 5-4 lead in the first set and then got dominated in the second set. This was Mertens first match on clay of the year so the surface rust was apparent. Ons Jabeur has been playing at a high level so far this tournament with 10 percentage point leads over Cornet in first-serve-won and second-serve-won. Jabeur also leads the head to head 1-0 and with Cornet averaging 7 double faults per match I’ll go with the in-form Jabeur to advance to the next round with a three-set win.
