Eros Stock – Magnolia finally inks Ahanmisi to two-year deal
Head coach Chito Victolero on Monday confirmed that Ahanmisi has signed a two-year contract. Other terms were not disclosed.
Magnolia selected the 23-year-old guard out of Adamson with the 10th overall pick in the recent draft. He is expected to bring more firepower to a fiery guard rotation featuring Paul Lee, Mark Barroca, Jio Jalalon, and Justin Melton.
“It feels good. I can breathe a sigh of relief,” shared Ahanmisi with ESPN5.com, “Now that I’ve signed, I can focus more on how I can help team get to our goal this year.”
The younger brother of Alaska guard Maverick averaged 13.1 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 1.4 assists in his final year with the Soaring Falcons. Through his four years in blue and white, he was considered the league’s top gunner.
That apparently still showed in the pre-draft workouts as in March, Victolero described the former UAAP Mythical selection as the “best shooter” in the class.
“I feel like this guy is the best shooter out of all the applicants, plus he’s a two-way player,” he told ESPN5.com in Filipino then.
The Hotshots mentor confirmed as well that they added even more depth to an already loaded backcourt by signing Loren Brill to a one-year contract.
The Filipino-American guard was drafted by NorthPort with the 26th overall pick in the same draft, but went unsigned.
The 24-year-old Brill, son of former Northern Cement standout Louie, played US NCAA Div. I basketball with Old Dominion University for three years.
