Xpeng Stock – XPeng P5: Record Pre-Orders For The Chinese Semi-Autonomous Electric Sedan
XPeng has started accepting pre-orders for the P5. A build slot for the Chinese electric vehicle, which celebrated its public premiere at the 2021 Shanghai Auto Show, can be secured for a refundable 99 yuan, or just $15 at the current exchange rates. The first customers will get “lifetime free charging”.
Reservations kicked off on April 19, and 53 hours later, the company announced on social media that they received pre-orders for over 10,000 units. Demand is expected to keep growing, as XPeng has high expectations from the P5, believing that it will further boost their sales beyond the first-quarter record.

“We persist in exploring because we are convinced that technology will enrich our lifestyles and bring about a great mobility transformation”, said founder and chief executive, He Xiaopeng. “We believe in the future of autonomous driving, and remain committed to it. Transportation has immense influence on our daily lives and technology is empowering our life choices and propelling a fundamental revolution in mobility.”
The official launch of the P5 is scheduled for the third quarter of the year, and deliveries should commence in Q4. The Chinese automaker has yet to announce the official starting price of the car.
The P5 is a bit longer than the Tesla Model 3 but has a shorter wheelbase. It sports a 15.6-inch portrait-oriented screen inside, a 12.3-inch tablet-like digital instrument cluster, three-spoke multi-function steering wheel, leather upholstery, glossy black accents and metal trim. An 18-liter (0.63 cu-ft) refrigerator and a 220-volt socket will also be included.
The icing on the cake is a semi-autonomous driving system that the automaker claims to be the “strongest” offered in a production vehicle.
