Tetris – Two Rivers arcade opens, has Tetris, Atari and more retro games
TWO RIVERS – If you plan to spend the night playing pool or air hockey at the new Cleveland’s Arcade, 2022 Washington St., you better plan to break open your piggy bank full of change.
These vintage arcade games function on quarters — except on Fridays, when there’s a flat entrance fee.
“There’s something very satisfying about pumping quarters into an arcade game,” said owner Mike Cleveland. “This arcade functions on nostalgia, and putting quarters into a machine and watching it come to life is part of that.”
Cleveland said he’s in the process of purchasing the building that also houses his bike and indoor skate park. This will give him room to expand the skate park and add other venues as his business grows.
Cleveland said he’s long been a fan of arcade games, and as he began collecting machines and other memorabilia, the idea of a public arcade grew.
