Twitter – Bitcoin rises amid talk of Twitter acceptance | Business
Bitcoin scaled its highest level in four months yesterday, breaching the $50,000 mark as its sporadic recovery continued.
The world’s largest cryptocurrency surged to a record in April before halving in value and seesawing since then. Its latest rise has come after it was reported that Twitter could soon allow users to accept it as a digital tip from their followers.
A forthcoming update suggests that the social network is working on adding it, according to the MacRumors website. Jack Dorsey, 44, Twitter’s co-founder and chief executive, is a prominent supporter of bitcoin.
Yesterday the currency was up 2.2 per cent at $50,620.66.
