A Chicago Black man not too long ago recorded his encounter with a Walgreens worker who known as the police to have him faraway from the shop as a result of he seemed suspicious.
Vinnie Dewayne shared the video to Instagram this week, and the footage has been considered greater than 70,000 occasions. Dewayne stated he had simply gotten off work and was visiting a retailer he frequents close to his dwelling when the incident occurred.
The footage reveals Dewayne’s interplay with a police officer who requested him to depart and with the Walgreens worker who allegedly requested to officer to confront him. He stated he was confronted by the officer inside eight minutes of getting into the shop.
“Can you explain one more time why you’re telling me to leave?” Dewayne requested the officer after starting to report the interplay on his cellphone.
“So the security guard said he — I don’t know why he does not want you here. We can go talk to him,” the officer responded.

“You were just walking around, I don’t know what you’re looking for,” the guard advised Dewayne.
“What do you mean what am I looking for? I’m clearly looking for something,” Dewayne stated. “Is there a problem with me walking around?”
“Yeah, if you look suspicious, yeah,” the guard stated.
“What about me appears to be like suspicious? Dewayne requested. He went on to clarify that he was on the Walgreens to purchase cat meals, a lint curler and soup, and that he was making ready for a flight the following day.
“I come here every day, I live right down the street,” Dewayne stated, earlier than providing to point out the guard his tackle.
“I’m pretty sure there’s a lot of things he could be doing right now … but you’re telling him I’m suspicious,” Dewyane stated to the worker in reference to the police officer. “You look suspicious watching me as I’m trying to shop.”
When the guard stated he was simply doing his job, Dewayne replied, “You’re not doing a good job at it.”
As Dewayne continued to confront the worker and turned his consideration the offcer, the cop stated, “He told me you had to leave.”
“What are you going to do, are you going to let him keep shopping?” the officer requested the emplpoyees.
“Yeah, he’s fine,” the worker stated.
Dewayne then requested the officer to offer suggestions to the worker that will assist him “do his job higher. “
“Maybe talk to the person before you … maybe find out what’s going on,” the officer stated.
Walgreens issued a press release on social media, saying the incident was below investigation. “Thanks for bringing this to our attention. We’ve escalated this up to management who will be taking a look into this matter,” the statement learn.
On social media, some individuals known as for a boycott of the chain. “This is RACISM Your employee is RACIST & prejudiced Fortunately, we can take our business elsewhere,” one Twitter consumer wrote.
