Walgreens Stocks – Hopkinsville Walgreens to offer COVID-19 vaccine

Hopkinsville’s Walgreens store will be among Kentucky pharmacies that begin receiving COVID-19 vaccines through a new federal program, state officials announced Thursday.

The federal program, which Lt. Gov. Jacqueline Coleman said starts this week, will distribute approximately 13,000 first doses weekly to 78 Walgreens stores and 47 Good Neighbor independent pharmacies. The federal program is aimed at serving vulnerable Kentuckians.

Walgreens appointments must be scheduled online.

Gov. Andy Beshear also announced 15 Walmart stores and 10 Kroger stores will begin giving vaccinations. The list of those stores does not include Hopkinsville.

Walmart plans to provide the vaccine in three Western Kentucky towns — Mayfield, Paducah and Central City. Kroger will have the vaccine in Elizabethtown, Murray and Paducah. 

Appointments will be scheduled online for Kroger and Walmart, state officials said. However, scheduling options didn’t appear to be live as of Thursday for either company’s Western Kentucky stores.

Hopkinsville continues to operate one of Kentucky’s regional vaccination sites at the James E. Bruce Convention Center.
