SALISBURY, Md.- There was grand opening Thursday at the Salisbury Walmart for the new covid-19 testing site.
The site is run by the CDC and the Maryland Department of Health.
The state said the main goal is to bring testing to vulnerable areas and they said that’s important because not everyone is vaccinated.
On average Maryland is doing about 30 to 35 thousand tests a day and having these sites are a big part of trying to move forward through this pandemic.
“We are shifting our approach to having these mobile test sites all over the state,” Jon Weinstein, MDH, COVID-19 Testing Task Force Director, said. “We cannot let our guard down, again we feel like things are going in the right direction, they certainly are, but it’s only because we are doing things like this, like testing.”
The Walmart testing site will be open this week and next week from Thursday to Sunday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
We’re told they will be using the 15 minute rapid tests.
