Hublot – Hublot – Sailing in the Sunshine: Hublot invites WorldTempus to the Bol d’Or Mirabaud – Trends and style
The Bol d’Or Mirabaud is the world’s most important inland lake regatta dating back to 1939 and covering 123 km from Geneva to the far end of Lake Léman and back again. Cancelled last year due to the pandemic, competitors were delighted to get back on the water for the 82nd edition of the race last weekend which saw 440 boats taking place. Even if the wind wasn’t cooperating, the glorious sunshine made it a fabulous day out for all.
The WorldTempus team accompanied Hublot on their spectator boat to experience the competition from the water. After getting into trouble by the lake police for parking in the wrong zone – an honest mistake when there are no parking signs – we were able to witness the start of the race as the cannon fired at 10 am sharp (Hublot is the Official Timekeeper after all)!
Following the boats as they made their way up the right bank of the lake, we even caught up with the guys from our sister magazine Skippers who were competing in Tinguely, a Ventilo M2. I think they were as surprised to see us as we were to find them! With a lot of waving and encouragements from our side, we then sailed alongside the Hublot team boat to cheer them on too.

While enjoying the lake and sunshine, we were also able to discover Hublot’s brand-new Classic Fusion Chronograph Bol d’Or Mirabaud with its 45-mm black satin-effect ceramic case, sporty blue and anthracite dial, and topstitched technical fabric strap, which we ended up photographing more than the race itself!

After a couple of hours in the sunshine, our boat left the race to head over to Anières and the gastronomy restaurant Le Floris, where we had the pleasure of meeting Hublot’s new ambassador, the chef Jean-Edern Hurstel, who was waiting to welcome us on the quay. Le Floris has incredible views across the lake so we could still keep our eye on the race as we savoured some of Hurstel’s specialties paired with some delightful wines.

This was Hublot’s first Swiss event since the pandemic and it felt good to see both people and watches in person, especially out on the water in the sunshine. Watch industry life doesn’t get much better than this!
