Zillow – Sean Hannity Looking To Out-Fox New York’s Sky-High Taxes
The war between Sean Hannity and New York is escalating.
Hannity has listed his waterfront home at 27 Sea Crest Drive in Lloyd Harbor on what natives call Long Island’s “gold coast” for sale for $3.6 million. The 8,000-square-foot traditional home was built in 2001 and sits on 2 acres that front the Long Island Sound. There are 4 bedrooms and 5.5 bathrooms.
Hannity is said to live in another Long Island home in the town of Centre Island, but his future in New York State is growing more questionable after Gov. Andrew Cuomo, a Democrat, warned that “extreme conservatives who are right-to-life, pro assault weapon, anti-gay … have no place in New York.”
The inflammatory conservative TV and radio host appears to know when and how to take his cues. Hannity’s response to Cuomo was aimed right at the sky-high property tax rates that eat up incomes of so many New Yorkers, no matter their political bent or economic status.
“I can’t wait to get out of here. I really can’t,’’ Hannity said, adding: “I don’t want to pay their 10 percent state tax anymore. I live in the second-highest property-taxed county in the entire country in Nassau County. I can’t wait to sell my house to somebody who wants it. I can’t wait to pay no state income tax down in Florida or Texas,” Hannity said.
Taxes for 2011 on his Lloyd Harbor estate in Nassau County were $46,864.
Hannity has officials from other, less tax-heavy states courting him. In Tennessee last week, state lawmakers fashioned a bill that a committee approved calling for Hannity to move down to the Volunteer State. In addition to Tennessee, Hannity has suggested Texas might be the perfect landing spot for him, once his teenage son finishes high school.
