Scott Morrison – PM to face ‘challenging’ year ahead with trademark ‘middle ground pragmatism’
Prime Minister Scott Morrison will face a “daunting and challenging framework” of issues during 2021, according to The Australian’s Paul Kelly.
“Just have a look at the agenda,” he told Sky News.
Mr Kelly outlined vaccine distribution, economic recovery, China’s ongoing trade retaliation and climate change as key outcomes which Mr Morrison would have to address.
“This is going to be a very big and challenging year for Scott Morrison”.
Speaking of the tactics the prime minister would employ in the year ahead, Mr Kelly said Scott Morrison “last year stamped his style as prime minister as a middle ground pragmatist”.
“He is more in the middle ground than either Tony Abbott or Malcolm Turnbull,” he said.
Mr Kelly also said the ALP was still “competitive” and jobs, businesses and living standards would come under pressure despite the predicted V-shaped recovery.
