The Mercedes EQ range is on its range as the company plans on making just EVs by 2030. They have recently unveiled the Mercedes EQB, which is based on the GLB. Mercedes EQB Safety Measures
We begin with the safety aspects of this car and there are plenty.
For starters, it is equipped with Merc’s all-new intelligent thermal management system. This prevents overheating and electrical fires. An aluminum housing also protects the car’s battery from impact in case you hit something or you encounter debris.
But it isn’t just the hardware that makes it safer. The battery system will shut off in the event of a crash and this change can be permanent as well. Apart from this, there will be a dedicated disconnection point available in the case of an emergency situation.
They’ve also made it so that the charging will turn off in the case there is an impact observed by the vehicle. So, what about drivers’ assistance then?

Well, you will get standard systems such as automated emergency breaking (doesn’t combine with anything) and lane-keep assist. You can add a lot more to the mix such as active distance, blind-spot, and steer assist systems.
Merc have added some autonomous driving features to this one as well. This is no surprise as it is full of sensors that’ll help you with the driving.
Mercedes EQB Engine and Numbers
So, the Mercedes EQB will be of two types at the moment: the EQB 300 and the EQB 350. Both of these vehicles will be equipped with a 66.5 kWh battery pack. This should give them a range of 260 miles on a full charge. There will be a long-range version later.
But how long will it take you to take the car to its full charging capabilities? Well, like all electric cars, it depends on the charger that you use. Merc say that a DC fast charger will increase the battery’s percentage from 10 to 80 in just half an hour.
The maximum charging time that you can expect this car to have is about 6 hrs. That is only if you don’t have DC charging or the right equipment. You can charge this car at a Mercedes Wallbox setup as well.
Mercedes EQB Interior and Tech
Inside, the interior doesn’t resemble a spaceship like the Mercedes EQS. But this doesn’t mean that it isn’t classy. You get a splendid leather upholstery along with aluminum accents. The air vents look spectacular and there’s a choice of ambient lighting styles.
You get a large infotainment system with beautiful graphics. It will display all of the info about your car’s battery and charging needs. Other than that, there will be a head-up display and voice control.
Mercedes EQB Exterior and Price
Like its interior, the exterior isn’t so futuristic looking. It looks quite similar to its gasoline counterpart, the GLB. You get a long band of LED lighting along with cool alloy wheels.
Will the EQB cost a fortune then? According to US News, it will be priced from $50k when it is available in North America. This is almost $10k more than the GLB but it just may save you a lot of money in the long run.
