PS5 Restock – Vanguard Beta Is Unplayable on PS4
The Call of Duty Vanguard Beta is definitely a next-gen experience, as players report huge blur issues making the game unplayable on PS4.
If you’re looking to play the Call of Duty Vanguard Beta, you’d better have a PS5 to do it on! The game’s Early Access Beta is now live, and it’s a disappointing experience on last-gen hardware.
Lately, we’ve been hearing a lot of complaints about Vanguard’s visibility in the Beta.
On top of that, the Vanguard Beta also has extremely quiet audio which desperately needs a fix.
But it seems that the visibility problems are even worse on last-gen consoles than they are on PS5. And if you don’t have the elusive next-gen device just yet, Vanguard isn’t far off unplayable.
Here’s how to get a free Call of Duty Vanguard Beta key!
Vanguard Graphics Are Blurry on PS4
Right now, thousands of gamers are hopping into the Vanguard Beta, only to report that the graphics are incredibly blurry on PS4.
We’re getting to a point now where games are being held back by last-gen consoles, and it’s incredibly clear in the Vanguard Beta. Although the Beta looks okay on PS4 devices in some instances, it becomes a blurry mess in many others.
In a new video by YouTuber NerosCinema, the Call of Duty fan shows off just how much blur affects the Vanguard Beta experience. Playing from a PS4 console, NerosCinema reports that simply firing your weapon is enough to turn the whole game blurry.
Take a look at the screenshots below for an example of what Vanguard looks like before and after firing on PS4:

Even using the Vanguard Beta’s best settings isn’t enough to solve the issue which is likely caused by trying to get the next-gen title to run on older hardware.
We saw some similar blur in the Vanguard PS4 vs PS4 Pro vs PS5 graphics comparison – however, it wasn’t this bad in the Alpha. Now, although the game performs well on PS5 consoles, Vanguard appears unplayable on PS4.
Vanguard Low Frame Rate on Last-Gen Consoles
On top of the Vanguard Beta blur issues, players are also reporting low frame rates on PS4 devices. According to NerosCinema, the game regularly dips to 40 FPS mid-gameplay.
It’s quite possible that Vanguard is truly meant to be a next-gen experience, and Sledgehammer Games is desperately trying to make it work on PS4 too. Next weekend, we’ll see if these same issues arise on the Xbox One and low-spec PCs.
