With the 2022 London Games Festival on at the moment and set to attract around 100,000 visitors, new research from digital publisher Marmalade Game Studio reveals huge growth in the UK digital game sector (please see the attached press release).
There are around 44.32 million video game users in the UK, and new data from Marmalade Game Studio, reveals 5.7 million adults alone claim to have only started playing in 2021, fuelled by the restrictions placed on people during the worst of the Covid-19 crisis. At least 700,000 UK adults expect to start playing digital games for the first time this year.
Marmalade Game Studio’s research shows that among British digital gamers, one in three (32%) say they spent more on downloads last year compared to 2020, and the increase is significant – a huge £341.8 million! Only 7% of adults who play digital games report spending less.
