19 May US Stocks: Which stocks are gaining value and why
Tech selloff continues without limit and brings again all the market down without hesitation: S&P slipped 0.6%, NASDAQ -0.3%, and Dow Jones Industrial Average fell -0.75%.
The tech market closed mixed with the big of the industry still down or slightly in the green. The Fed decision still weighs on them due to rate hikes which mine investors’ sentiment.
Microsoft and Meta, respectively down -0.37% and -0.49%: Amazon (+0.19%), Snap (+2.02%), and Netflix (+3.55%), Google (-1.47%), Paypal (+5.31%) and Twitter 1.17%.
Despite Bank of America raising its target on iPhone sales of 6 million units, the stock fell around 2% during the day.
Chipset producers AMD and NVIDIA respectively gained +0.41% and +1.10%.
The smart mobility sector saw Lyft (+6.28%) and Uber Technologies (+3.34%) in green again, trying to recover from a very volatile week.
The energy sector was bashful after stacking gain for several weeks and the stop of yesterday’s session. In brief the energy sector: BP reported a -0.26%, Baker Hughes (+0.95%), APA(+0.91%), Devon Energy Corporation (-0.57%) Schlumberger NV (-0.73%), Halliburton (+0.11%).
On the financial services, the market saw all the stocks losing points: Signature Bank and Citigroup closed respectively -0.47% and +0.91%. All the others followed this uncertainty: Visa (-1.15%) and American Express (-1.59%), JPMorgan Chase (-1.52%), Morgan Stanley (-1%), Goldman Sachs +0.44%.
Uncertainty also on the travel side of the market with air companies ending the session mixed: Boeing lost around +1.26%, United Airlines falling (-0.94%), Alaska Air Group (+0.47%), and American Airlines (-0.83%).
