NEW YORK, May 26 (FintechZoom): A wave of positivity ran over the markets today. All major indices were up gaining more than 1.5%. The process of cutting losses stacked so far this week is proceeding on the right path: S&P surged 2%, NASDAQ gained +2.6%, and Dow Jones Industrial Average up +1.7%.
Protagonists of this market session have been retailers which have been victims of sell-offs recently and now flexing again in front of all the other stocks.
Specifically, Macy’s raised its outlook and its stocks went up by 19.31% Dollar tree as well hiked more than 19%.
Big gains registered also in the tech market with Twitter and Meta leading the race.
In details stocks from the the tech sector performed extremely well: Microsoft and Meta, respectively +1.28% and +4.27%: Amazon (+4.04%), Snap (+4.87%), and Netflix (+1.83%), Google (+2.33%), Paypal (+0.39%) and Twitter +6.31%, Apple +2.44%.
Chipset producers AMD and NVIDIA respectively increased by +6.53% and +5.23%.
Thanks to this surge for the chipset sector they’re halfway to recovering losses staked during the week.
Moreover, Nvidia reported better than expected first-quarter results.
Smart mobility almost recovered all the losses stacked during the week on the LYFT side. In detail: Lyft signed a +6.37% and Uber Technologies went up by +4.65%.
The energy sector kept stacking positive results this Thursday with most of the stocks gaining more than 0.8%. In brief the energy sector: BP reported a +0.88%, Baker Hughes (+3.85%), APA(+0.65%), Devon Energy Corporation (+2.59%) Schlumberger NV (+3.65%), Halliburton (+3.64%).
Another positive day also for the financial services sector which saw the stocks closing the day in a remarkable upward trend: Signature Bank and Citigroup closed respectively +2.75% and +2.64%. All the others followed this upward trend: Visa (+2.40%) and American Express (+3.00%), JPMorgan Chase (+1.78%), Morgan Stanley (+3.39%), Goldman Sachs +2.83%.
This Thursday session, airlines have been able to cut losses, in detail: Boeing gained around +4.65%, United Airlines up (+6.94%), Alaska Air Group (+4.25%), and American Airlines (+6.88%).
