Five years later, the brand has enhanced the Polaris Chronograph by offering it with two distinct dials, demonstrating the craftsmanship of the Manufacture. To further accentuate the versatility of the watch, each new Polaris Chronograph is provided with two interchangeable straps, allowing the wearer to instantly alter their look.

The Polaris Chronograph dials are characterized by the modern lines of their cases and stand out with their bold and vivid lacquered surfaces. One is a deep blue hue that reflects the sophisticated side of the Polaris, while the other is a warm grey, which is a new color in Jaeger-LeCoultre’s collection and illustrates its sportier side.
The complexity of the dial is built up of a central disc, a middle ring with hour markers, and an outer ring with a tachymeter scale. To generate an attractive visual effect, the lacquer on both the central disc and the hours ring is carefully and gradually shaded from light to dark. This process is laboriously done by hand, starting off with a layer of clear varnish and then a layer of colour. To bring out the subtle hues and gradations, 35 coats of translucent lacquer are then applied, and finally the components are polished to a bright mirror finish.
The Polaris Chronograph dial is designed in a classic style that’s easy to interpret, with a central chronograph seconds hand for more exact readings. Contrasting the 30-minute counter at 3 o’clock, a running seconds display now animates the dial at 9 o’clock, replacing the previous style. The sub-dials have a circular grain texture which stands out against the lacquered surfaces and the opaline finish of the outer ring.
The bright orange hue is used to emphasize the important elements, creating a dynamic visual appearance. The skeletonized hands provide an unobstructed view of the indications, while the trapezoid-shaped indexes conform to the modern Polaris design standards. To ensure maximum readability in any lighting situation, the indexes, numerals, and hands are coated with a luminescent material – a must-have for any sports watch.
Making the Most of a Proven Heritage in Horology
The sapphire crystal case-back displays the Calibre 761, the automatic movement that is a fine illustration of Jaeger-LeCoultre’s watchmaking. This movement is powered by double barrels and features a column-wheel chronograph mechanism with vertical clutch. It provides an impressive 65-hour power reserve.
The movement’s fine craftsmanship is shown in the blued screws and Cotes de Geneve decoration which is featured on the baseplate and winding rotor, emblazoned with a ‘JL’ insignia. The entire process, from design to assembly, was done within the Manufacture at Le Sentier in Switzerland’s Vallee de Joux.
